Meghalaya

Situated in the North East region of India, the state is bordered by Assam and Bangladesh. Meghalaya’s capital city Shillong is the largest city in the state situated on the Khasi hills.

Meghalaya’s extensive wildlife and flora and fauna is sure to gladden any nature lover’s heart. For those who love to explore, Meghalayas caves like the Krem Mawkhyrdop or Krem Mawmluh, Krem Dam and the Mawsmai Cave amongst many others are a natural delight that cannot afford to be neglected. If you’re in the state during the festival of Wangala (or dance of hundred drums) be sure to be facinated by Meghalaya’s vibrant culture. This festival is an important event of the Garos that marks the end of a period of toil, and an omen to a yield of good harvest. It is performed in honor of ‘Satyong’, the God of fertility. Held every November, the festival lasts for a whole week.
