Gwalior

According to ancient legends, Gwalior derived its name from a great sage called Gwalipa who cured a chief of the Kachwaha clan suffering from leprosy. A part of Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior is also known for its educational hub.

If you’re looking to visit Gwalior on a vacation, make sure that you visit the Gwalior Fort. One of Gwalior’s ancient architectural delights, the fort sits on a hilltop that overlooks the city. The fort’s sheer massive size can be determined from the many temples that it houses. The Man Mandir, Sas-Bahu temples and the chhatris (memorials to former Scindia rulers) are some of the best sites to visit in Gwalior. Another important place to visit is the Jai Vilas Palace at Lashkar. A lavishly built palace, a part of it is used as a residence for the family while the other has been converted into a museum that houses proofs and documents of a more leisurely and princely lifestyle. For those looking for knowledge during their visit, be sure to visit the museum of freedom fighters.
