Goa

Famous for its Gothic style churches, ancient ruins, vast beaches and bubble folk music, makes Goa a well visited tourist destination. Known for its ample sun, sand and surf, Goa is the ideal place to visit if you’re looking to unwind and relax. Blessed with good weather, vibrant culture and good food, Goa welcomes thousands of visitors a month. About a third of Goa is still covered with dense forest land making the Bhagwan Mahavir National Park near Molem it the largest of Goa’s wildlife reserves. The park has a sizable population of leopard, chital and sloth bear along with several species of birds.

A part of the Mauryan Empire, Goa was inhabited by the Portuguese for around four centuries. This invasuion by the Portuguese reflects a lot in the state’s culture, food and festivals. Abundant with gothic style architecture, visitors from India and overseas throng the ‘Basilica of Bom Jesus’ in Old Goa (it was built in the year 1605, and now declared a World Heritage Monument). Despite the Portuguese influence that dominated Goa, a large number of Hindu temples still exist in the state. The Mangeshi Temple, Shanta Durga, Ganapati Temple and the Mahalaxmi Temple are some of the oldest in the state.
