Cochin

Kochi or Cochin is located in the south-west region of India in the state of Kerala. Perhaps India’s second most important city on the west coast (after Mumbai), Cochin is flanked by the Western Ghats on the east and the Arabian sea on the West.

There’s absolutely no dearth of tourist attractions in Cochin whether you’re looking to visit beaches, ancient forts or religious places. An interesting tourist spot in Cochin is Chinese Fishing Nets at Fort Kochi. The chinese fishing nets (or Cheenavala) are distinctly unique to the city. It is believed that traders from the court of the Chinese ruler Kublai Khan introduced these nets here. St. Francis church is one of India’s oldest churches built by the Europeans in India. Cochin also has a vibrant art and culture. The traditional Kathakali dance performance is worth a watch with dancers clad in colourful costumes and make-up, emoting stories through hand-gestures and impressive facial expressions.
