Shimla

A hill station in the state of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla is one of India’s most famous tourist attractions. The hill station derives its name from Goddess Shyamla who is supposed to be an avatar of Goddess Kali.

Amongst places to see in Shimla, visit the Mall that is Shimla’s main promenade that runs along a busy shopping area speckled with old colonial buildings, antique shops and restaurants. The Himachal State Museum is a colonial building surrounded by spacious lawns has collections of stone sculptures, local handicrafts, textiles and a wide range of embroidery. Glen is an ideal picnic spot beyond Annandale beside a sparkling stream. This spot will give any visitor a moment to unravel and relax. Amongst the temples to see in Shimla is the ancient temple of Bihargaon that is also a brilliant illustration of the traditional Himachal architecture.
