Daman and Diu
Ruled by the Portuguese for more than 450 years the union territories of Daman and Diu have beautiful beaches, old Portuguese forts and churches that reflect the Portuguese influence. Both places have worth-visiting spots. Surrounded by the Valsad district of Gujarat, Daman is known for the massive fort at Moti Daman, grand Light house, gardens, historic monuments and ancient Gothic style churches.
Diu is an isolated island on the Arabian Sea coast comprising of salt pans, limestone cliffs and sandy beaches. The numerous quarries sprinkled all over the island including the coconut and palm trees serve as major tourist attractions in the city. The Nagoa beach and the museum are also worth a visit.
