Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh came into being as India’s 26th state in the year 2000, with about a third of their population being Tribal. Largely forest covered, Chattisgarh plays host to more than 10 important rivers, wildlife, waterfalls and crops that thrive.

The epicenter of the tribal populated Bastar district, the Kanger Valley National Park, houses a number of ancient caves. The tribal village areas of Chattisgarh are indeed a reason to visit the state. These villages are vibrant with the culture and traditions of the tribals that have inhabited the forests and surrounding areas for over 10,000 years. Among the tribal festivals make sure you catch the ‘Bastar Dassera’ if you visit Chhattisgarh between September and October. It is one of Chattisgarh’s most important festivals which is celebrated for 10 days.
