Andaman Nicobar
A union territory of India, the Andaman and Nicobar islands are located in the Indian Ocean. Known for its splendid beaches and tropical rainforest canopy, the Andaman and Nicobar islands are well visited for its beautiful beaches, monuments and adventure sports. In the time when India was under the rule of the British invaders, the islands of Andaman and Nicobar were used by the British as an isolated prison for members of the Indian independence movement.
The Cellular Jail is a tourist spot famous for housing the freedom fighters of India. It is called ‘cellular’ because of the cell like design of the jail that enabled solitary confinement of prisoners. The Rose Island and Viper Island are two small, serene and extremely beautiful islands that witnessed the horrific sufferings that the British meted out to the Indian patriots.
